Triptych, graphite, 20cm x 20cm

Portraits / Drawing from Observation

This was a  college project on observational drawing, with the theme of portraiture. My final piece was a triptych of self-portraits made in response to Peony Yip.

The Oddities Museum

The Oddities Museum was a fashion event for the designer Fidel David, by whom I was commissioned to illustrate the posters, social media posts, and tote bag designs. My aim was to reflect the fairy tale inspired aesthetic of his designs.

Flick though the slideshow to see my designs, or look at Amor Barroco's Facebook page to see photos from the event.

PERSONAL WORK

Unmei no Dei

Ink and Watercolour, 20cm x 10cm

2016

An artwork based on a photo of the Japanese band, Malice Mizer, in a style informed by Akiya Kageichi.

The Little Mermaid

Ink and Watercolour, A4

2019

Based on the Hans Christian Andersen story, which was written as part of a love letter to another man. This piece was meant to honour the queer history and subtext behind the tale, using a style inspired by Aubrey Beardsley.

Shelob's Lair

Fineliner and Ink, 20cm x 20cm

2019

Another illustration based on literature, this was inspired by a scene from The Lord of the Rings.

The Jam Factory

As an intern at The Jam Factory Oxford, I help to install and curate galleries as well as making blackboard art and graphic design for their website

Flick through the slideshow to see some of the designs I have made.

Contextual Influences: Decades

Mixed media, A4

2019

This college project, based on the theme of decades, looked at the development of punk as a culture throughout the 1970s. It was made inside a book of party games from 1979, using a mix of illustrative and collage techniques inspired by punk zines. This page is a recreation of Vivienne Westood's outlet, where her garments can be used to dress paper dolls provided at the end of the book.

Polynesian Textiles Project

Screen print on cotton, A3

Heat transfer dye on sateen, A3

2018

For this brief, we made a range of surface patterns inspired by our research on traditional Polynesian textiles and design. My screen print was based on 19th century botanical illustrations using a collection of plants native to Polynesia, while the heat press sample was based on tattoo artwork.
